Ovaries

The ovaries are paired almond-shaped structures attached to the posterior to the board ligament.

They are attached to the lateral pelvic wall by the suspensory ligament of the ovary (a region of the broad ligament), which contains the ovarian artery, vein and nerve.

The main function of the ovaries are to produce:

  1. Oocytes

  2. Hormones - estrogen and progesterone
