Sacrum

The sacrum is the fourth segment of the vertebral column and is composed of a large bone that is formed by the fusion of S1 - S5 vertebrae. The sacrum functions as a weight bearing structure that supports walking, standing and sitting.

The sacrum contains foramina that transmit rami of the sacral spinal nerves.
