Prostate Gland

The prostate gland is located between the base of the urinary bladder and the urogenital diaphragm and it can be easily palpated by a digital examination via the rectum.

The prostate gland secretes proteolytic enzymes into the semen to ensure its fluidity by breaking down clotting factors in the ejaculate. These enzymes leave the prostate gland through the prostatic ducts to enter the prostatic portion of the urethra.
